I’ll provide a practical checklist, help you understand what needs to be prepared, and be there with you during the ceremony to make sure nothing gets lost in translation.

Much of the work happens before your wedding day — and some of it before you even arrive in Italy.
The documentation required for a civil marriage varies depending on your nationality, circumstances and the municipality where you are getting married. Couples coming from outside the EU may need additional documents from their home country, along with certified translations, apostilles or other formalities.
I provide you with a clear checklist outlining what needs to be prepared and when. Any required translations must be completed before the wedding ceremony, so it’s important to arrange these in advance. For many couples, particularly those coming from the US, UK and other non-EU countries, having this work completed in your home country is the fastest and most convenient option.
A few days before your wedding, I accompany you to the town hall to help you navigate the required appointments and paperwork. This may include signing documents and forms and completing the necessary formalities before your civil ceremony.
My role is to help you understand what needs to be done, support you through the administrative process, and make sure you feel prepared when your wedding day arrives.
On your wedding day
English–Italian Interpreting at Your Civil Ceremony
Your civil ceremony is conducted by an authorized Italian civil official and is a short, formal ceremony carried out according to Italian law.
If you do not speak or fully understand Italian, a professional interpreter is legally required to be present. I will be there to interpret the proceedings from Italian into English in real time, including the legally required readings, so that you understand what is being said and can fully participate in the ceremony.
Your civil ceremony may take place at the town hall or, where permitted by the municipality, at an approved wedding venue or other authorized location.
